Ready For The Next Round!
After almost seven years at The Clubhouse, demo-ing, renovating, designing and
decorating, wrapping up all the last items on our to-do list, we have made the decision
to sell! We are excited, a little apprehensive, cautiously optimistic, and feeling
somewhat bittersweet. Is it possible to feel happy and sad at the same time? In one of
my first Blog posts I talked about the blood sweat and tears that went into this project
and the difficulty we had securing a bank owned property. Had we known all that was
involved I may not have moved forward. Greg had a better concept of what lay ahead
and has always loved a good challenge, and he has skills, so that mindset, along with a
really good contractor for the addition, made it all worth it. There were many times when
we had more month than money, but looking back, I’m thankful for those times because
it forced us to be resourceful and even more determined. As I look around the great
room, I see many built ins and projects that we designed using materials from the
Clubhouse remodel. Most of the clubhouse has solid wood paneling, beams, doors, and
cabinets and the majority of it was in great shape. That, along with Greg’s ingenuity,
made it possible to complete the necessary projects and even some of my Dream
projects, i.e., the gorgeous green built in banquette, the large bookshelf, the paneling on
the stairs, and my kitchen and pantry/coffee Bar. I asked Greg for a large kitchen and
pantry, and he delivered! Our Island, at almost 12’ is more of a continent,

and our Pantry could be a flex room of some sort. That brings up one of the reasons we are moving,
maintaining a larger home and property takes so much time and resources; we do have
help with the yard, but for the most part we do all the upkeep ourselves. We (mostly
Greg) enjoy designing, planning, mapping out and completing projects, but recently he has
mentioned wanting to do other things besides repairing and building on the weekends.
So, it’s time for the next round! Another big reason we would like to move is to be closer
to our parents and family, who are almost all out West. Greg can work from just about
anywhere as long as he is close to an airport.
We do have a few more things to complete before we List the house but so far, we have:
Sanded and repainted the Master bathroom cabinets
Installed both Barn doors in Master
Painted and updated the front porch
Cleaned out the attic along with multiple trips to Donation centers
Made repairs to the mechanical room
Touched up paint in Great room
Removed two precariously perched trees to make way for the golf cart driveway

Our Final To-Do List;
Pressure wash the stone and driveway
Pour small driveway for golf cart garage (we are hiring that task!)
Insulate and Sheetrock the Garage (that is currently underway)
Replace Astragals on both front and back double doors
Fresh sand or gravel in fire pit
A few small touch ups to make it “show ready”.
Last but not least, Sell!

I hope whoever lives here next, enjoys it as much as we have. I also hope I’ve never
taken for granted the blessing and opportunity we’ve had to make this empty and
somewhat neglected clubhouse our home. We will be downsizing so I’m trying my best
to give away/sell our things, and they are just that, things. It is amazing though, how much you
can accumulate after 40+ years of marriage and kids and grandkids, and I am not a
saver and donate on a regular basis!
We are excited for this next adventure, living in a new space, meeting new friends, being closer to family, and
actually doing a little exploring on weekends! Stay tuned as I will most likely continue with my Flipping Old Blog.
Fore!
Marcy and Greg
