Hello world!
Just got the pre approval nod yesterday, meeting tomorrow with the Lender. We are going to do (I think!) a construction-perm loan, then converting to a Conventional mortgage. Our Realtor has submitted our offer to the developer, we have a Friday at 5 pm deadline to hear back. Fingers crossed, more importantly, head bowed!
How this all started; In August of last year, we moved from Texas to Oklahoma for hubby’s job. We could pretty much live anywhere in the state, we decided on smack dab in the middle of Oklahoma, Norman, GO Sooners! Also, the weather capital of the United States; hmmm, can you say Tornado Central?? By starting out in the middle of the state, we can explore both Northern, and Southern Oklahoma. We settled into an apartment and were thankful to have some downtime after selling our Texas home, moving temporarily into our daughter and her families apartment, then moving again a short time later. After adjusting to apartment life and our new environment, I began to look online at homes in both Southern, Northern, and Central Oklahoma. The Hubby (Greg) looked when he had time. For some reason, and the first time in almost 35 years of marriage, we could not agree on any home. That was fine, but after several months I was beginning to get a little frustrated as to why he didn’t like any of the homes I had found. I sent him (yet again) a link to one of my latest finds. After waiting patiently, (HA!, maybe 5 minutes) for some sort of reaction from him, I went into his office – “Hey, take a look at this” said hubby. He had zero interest in the house/link I had found, but being the diligent left brain man that he is, he had mapped homes in the area and found a very reasonably priced home on acreage. We were both intrigued, hubby more than me, – yay progress! The next day, Greg drove by the property on his way home from work, a builder happened to be there checking on the possibilities for a potential buyer. Greg was able to take a quick look inside, and explore a bit outside. Later that night, he told me about it in less than enthusiastic terms, what I perceived as such anyway. We made plans to drive out there the next day. I ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE! It was in a pristine, gorgeous, manicured Golf Course neighborhood, with Lot sizes ranging from 1-4 acres. Our property, however, was not manicured or pristine. But oh the possibilities…It was the former Clubhouse to the now defunct Golf course. We peeked in the windows; 15′ beamed ceilings, a large great room, built ins, and beautiful flooring. But ~ and here’s the kicker, no bedrooms, just an office, the two bathrooms were really more like locker rooms, and no garage. The hubby’s dream property. He is the ultimate do it your self-er, we have remodeled several homes over the years, and he can pretty much fix anything. Although I do recall one particular home remodel project where there may have been a couple electrical shocks! We made an offer February 4th, and it was accepted! And so began a very Long and frustrating process of attempting to purchase the property and convert it from a commercial property to a residential. Stay tuned…
